This was an entertaining book. I have a degree in History and enjoyed the obvious research that the author did in preparation for this work. Also, the style was very easy to get into. A solid book in its genre.
This has been a wonderful Alternate History Trilogy about America being forced on an a different path by the Arrogant British Empire. Instead of Civil War, Americans unite to defeat the British in North America then liberate Ireland and the take War to England itself. Great series! Enjoyable reading!
I really liked certain other alternate history books, including the 1632 and Confederate series. Saw mixed reviews on this trilogy, but I like Harry Harrison. Will add my "good" rating to others', as he does sometimes skip parts that could have been really interesting in the historical sense. It's a little more like an overview, and not sufficiently detailed to be top notch. He does take some questionable liberties with the historic characters, though I found none "way out there". Nevertheless, I mostly enjoyed it.
